who was the genius... put SALT into the jar clearly labeled (in both english AND chinese) "SUGAR"
i had a sudden 2am craving for spice cookies. researched some recipes. realized that i needed molasses which i didn't have. decided just to embellish on a plain sugar cookie recipe. found flaxseeds, ground those up into flour with some oats to fight those bad LDL's. creamed the butter and sugar, mixed in the eggs and vanilla, combined the dry ingredients, added various spices, grated in ginger until my fingertips burned, combined it all into what i thought would be the loveliest 2am spice cookies ever after they were baked.
i've learned (from previous mistakes) to do a small test batch before portioning out all the cookies. ran the test batch, they appeared to be okay. none of that excessive-bicarbonate-of-soda-cookie-puddles business. time for the taste test, and g-#%^&*(@#%!!!!! COOKIES BAD. my first attempt to remedy this abomination was to add more sparkly white crystals from the 'sugar' jar into my cookie dough. (don't take me as a dumbass, i did taste the product before adding it to the dough but it the thing was that i tasted it from the rim of the jar. the residual sugar from the previous filling was indeed sugar but the whole damn jar itself was currently filled with salt.)
so, ran a second test batch. double you tee eff... COOKIES EVEN BADDER. they had me spitting salty saliva into the kitchen sink. this is when i clued in to taste the crystals that were inside the jar discovering my savoury fall. my second attempt to remedy this abomination was to toss it all into the trash. i have officially turned myself off christmas baking. 2am spice cookie craving GONE. for the next few days at least.
the bailey's and milk performed well as the third attempt at a remedy.
1. to help the lone barista behind the library quotes cafe, the line up is steadily long and she's already phoned for help who isn't showing up. she's slow too... that's probably why the line up keeps on building. 2. to steal from that fat wallet that's from sitting on the counter for the past 10 minutes. 3. to microwave my food.
the coffee here can't be too fresh.. they brew into these HUGE carafes... probably for 100 cups or so. i got chai tea, it's average. next time... when i have money, i'll try their espresso con panna, i likes that.
AND, i blended up a smoothie this morning, maybe blended in too much air because i have MAD GAS right now. gas itself ain't too good, mad gas is hells BAD.
